As a reaction to America’s rapid industrialization, Romanticism emerged in the art & design of the 1800s advocating for “combining the geometric and the natural.” Meandering parks, a spiritual connection to nature, and a quest for awe and beauty blossomed amidst the mechanical and the utilitarian. 

Our Grove Shirt searches for a similar harmony between the pastoral and the practical. We orient ourselves around workwear sensibilities with our classic shirting details and double-stitched chest pockets. A sweeping split hem, imperfect gathers, and Mother-of-Pearl buttons introduce a Romantic roundness.

The Grove Shirt has a relaxed fit with a slight drop shoulder. We recommend your true size or sizing up for layering.

These shirts are cut from deadstock stripe cotton bedsheets c. 1960s. They are lightweight with a crisp hand, akin to a typewriter cloth or poplin.
