As a reaction to America’s rapid industrialization in the late 1800s, the emergent Romantic movement advocated for “combining the geometric and the natural” in art & design. Meandering parks, a spiritual connection to nature, and a quest for awe and beauty blossomed amidst the mechanical and utilitarian. 

Our Grove Shirt searches for a similar harmony between the pastoral and the practical. We orient ourselves around workwear sensibilities with our classic shirting details and double-stitched chest pockets. Romantic roundness emerges via the curving, high split hem and mismatched antique buttons.

This version is cut from heavy all-hemp denim, milled nearby in Pennsylvania. It’s hearty fabric with a drape reminiscent of old French farm bags. We expect it to soften and strengthen over many years of wear.

The Grove Shirt has a relaxed fit with a slight drop shoulder. We recommend your true size or sizing up for layering.
